[FIELD TRIP MIHM] Discovering iconic venues in London's hotel and restaurant industry
The Institute's Postgraduate team offered the MSc in International Hospitality Management students a great programme of visits during London Hospitality Week last week.
The objective of this field trip with nearly 80 students was to explore the best of the hotel industry across different categories of establishments.
Divided into 6 groups, the students visited iconic locations in the hospitality and food service industry. Amongst the venues visited, the Shangri-La, Rosewood, The London Edition, the Beaumont, the Savoy where they were received by Mr. Franck X. Arnold (Regional Vice-President & Managing Director). The afternoon continued with an Afternoon Tea in the purest English tradition and to the delight of all!
The groups also visited newly created venues such as The Hoxton Southwark (where they were welcomed by Victoria Scrase, Head of People @the Hoxton) or more unusual locations such as the Belmond British Pullman, home of trains like no other!
Accompanied by Pascal Lamoussière, a special group focused more on the food service industry, visited some of the trendiest venues in the British capital, including Sketch, the Nosiman's and Circo Popolare, one of the three restaurants of the Big Mamma group. This was an opportunity to meet a Master's alumni, Arthur Ruello (2019). Also on the programme was a visit to the German Gymnasium restaurant of the D&D London group, led by its General Manager Olga Gay (2004). Then, it was the turn of Clara Fleury (2013) to welcome our students at the Deliveroo headquarters and to show them an Editions site - an exclusive platform where 14 restaurants are located.
For 4 days the MIHM students walked the streets of London, the opportunity to forge lasting memories together but above all to measure the quality of the welcome given by the many professionals they met.
What a memorable visit!
