INSTANT ALUMNI: An inside look at the profession of Aymeric Rocher (2018) - Cluster Revenue Manager at Stairway Management
Aymeric Rocher (2018) was in Lyon recently, travelling between the Stairway Management agencies in Geneva and Nice. He gave us the pleasure of visiting Institut Paul Bocuse to meet the students of the 4th year Specialisation in Revenue Strategies in the Hospitality and Food Service sector in class. The job of Cluster Revenue Manager, whose role is to optimise the turnover of hotels, could be one of the careers envisaged by the students upon completion of their studies.
“Stairway Management is a management company specialising in Revenue Management, E-Distribution, Strategic Pricing, Digital Marketing, sales support and brand marketing for 4- and 5-star hotels and concepts.
We currently work with over 70 clients in Paris, the French Riviera, Switzerland, Italy and the UK.
We support our clients in revenue management, sales optimisation processes and digital marketing. We cover all levels of expertise in hotel revenue optimisation.
We participate in the audit process, benchmarking for product positioning and pricing strategies for hotel developments and renovations.
For more than 10 years, our strength has been the company's knowledge of its clients, their specific challenges and our ability to offer them customised and adapted solutions”.
Starting in 2019 as Assistant Cluster Revenue Manager at the Paris head office, Aymeric currently manages a portfolio of around ten hotels and optimises nearly €40 million in revenue per year. He is the main contact for owners, managers and hotel teams, and his duties are many, including sending daily reports and recommendations, holding weekly Revenue Meetings, implementing and monitoring actions, measuring the ROI of actions taken, carrying out ad hoc analyses, drawing up forecasts and budgets, as well as managing a team (Revenue Analyst and Assistant Revenue Manager).
“It's a job that requires a great deal of self-reliance and flexibility, and entails a lot of responsibility, allowing you to develop a strategic vision and work in management functions. Not being on site in the hotels on a daily basis, the most complex thing about the job is establishing excellent communication and relationships with the teams and members of senior management. This is necessary to ensure that the strategy is understood and executed by all concerned”.
So, who among you will be asking to do your final year internship with Aymeric? Thank you Aymeric for coming to speak to the class. It is always a great opportunity for sharing with the best interests of the students in mind, and in total honesty.
